Terminator Salvation (2009) -- Movie Review

I did not see any english movie this week (I saw one malayalam family drama starring Jayaram -- Bhagyadevatha).  So, I am writing this review bit about the movie I saw last week.

Terminator Salvation (2009) -- Review

Story:
In 2003, in the Longview State Correctional Facility, the criminal Marcus Wright that is in the death row is convinced by the cancerous Dr. Serena Kogan to donate his body to her research and he accepts. In 2018, after an unsuccessful attack to a Skynet facility, only John Connor survives, but he discovers that Skynet is developing the powerful new model T-800. Out of the blue, Marcus appears naked and with amnesia in the location. Marcus befriends the teenager Kyle Reese and the girl Star that help him to survive to lethal machines and they travel together in a Jeep. Meanwhile the resistance discovers a signal that might turn-off the machines and John offers to test it. When Kyle is captured by a machine and brought to the Skynet headquarter, Marcus decides to help the youngster and heads to Skynet; on the way, he saves Blair Williams that suggests him to meet John Connor first. But Marcus steps on a mine and is submitted to a surgery, when a secret about his origins is disclosed.

Review:
I hope many must have seen the first two of this sequel (Terminator and  Terminator2 - The Judgement day).  I really liked the second part of this sequel.  There were many interesting things in that part.  First, there was a tremendous improvement in the world of CGI and it was nicely used in this movie.  Second, for obvious reasons, Arnold Schwarzenegger.  Who can forget the macho man coming naked and saying in the very first intro scene "I need your bike, your dress and your glasses.".
James Cameron directed the first two movies and Terminator Salvation was directed by Joseph McGinty(McG).  I don't think he has done any Sci-fi movie earlier.  He had directed the Charlie's Angels sequels.  That explains it.  No Arnold, no big improvements in CGI, no fascinating story line either.  Only thing that is helpful (if it does) is Christian Bale (The Dark Knight, American Psycho).
Sure, there are couple of scenes that was done spectacularly with CGI's help (one bike-chasing-bale scene.).  Otherwise, nothing more to it.  I was kind of hoping for a good finish but got disappointed.
