Scary Short film

Well, this is not actually a short film... but kinda video about MichaelJackson's ghost seen in his house.  Weak hearted people are warned not to watch this video.  Others enjoy watching it.  While watching it, observe carefully otherwise you will miss the ghost.

(SK, thanks for your comment on the other short film.. I hope you liked this video... நெக்ஸ்ட் மீட் பண்றேன் :)

Speedup Videos with ByWifi

ByWifi (Video Accelerator)

Nowadays lot of video sharing sites have come up and there are couple which are very popular and widely used for eg.  Youtube, Dailymotion.  I use YouTube regularly to view trailers, jokes, some missed television shows and short films.  Internet bandwidth had improved in the recent days and 2mbps connections are available as common connection speed.  However, when you watch videos in the above said internet video sharing sites, the video loads up very slowly and will not uses the maximum speed available.  This is due to the restriction done at the site which restricts the speed per connection so that many users can connect at a time and all get respectable speed.  But sometimes, this is annoying for anybody who has 2mbps connection and see that video loads up like a crap 128kbps connection.
This is where "ByWifi" comes to play.  After installation, ByWifi automatically detects web videos and establishes multiple connections to the video file and improves the video loading time to almost 10 times faster.  I have BSNL 2mbps connection at home and with ByWifi I can watch youTube videos without any lagging.
You can download this free software from here.

Avatar and Moon -- Movie reviews

I saw two movies this weekend and both of them are really good.  One is James Cameron's Avatar.  Second one is Duncan Jones's "Moon". Let's see few things about those movies here.

Avatar (2009)

Yesterday, I went to see the recent hit flick "Avatar" in Devi Theatre.   It was amazing.  It was really worth the wait of 15 years.  I only wish James Cameron don't take more gaps for each time and give us more good news in future.  Though you know that the movie is full of CGI work, you can hardly they are CGI.  Those Navis are visualized made up very well.  In the entire movie, I can see the extreme imagination of the team and how well they have designed in detail about each thing in the movie.  Be it the mammoth dragon with two eyes or the spectacular horse which have noses in the neck or the flashy trees or the bonding between the navi and the animals through some hair root.  Its really faboulous.  Sentiment or romance are really mixed well.  That's what I liked very much in the movie.  I think that is the secret of success in Cameron's movies.  Even in Titanic, more than the graphics work in the movie, the much talked about the movie is the romance in their movie.
Do not miss the chance to see this movie.

Moon (2009)
http://insequential.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/moon-movie-poster.jpg
Moon.. this is a low-budget sci-fi drama about a guy who is working in a lunar station at moon alone for 3 years and hoping to go back to earth soon to see his wife and infant girl baby.  The main part of the his job is send the collected lunar helium loads back to Earth.  One day he gets into an accident in the vehicle and later he wakes up in the station to find one more guy in the station who exactly look like him!  They both fight each other in the beginning but later get along and find the truth about the mission secrets.  Once we know the "truth" (just to hold the suspense, I am not going to expose it), you kind of feel sad and cant stop thinking about the ending.  There isn't any spectacular graphics like Avatar but this is a really good movie.

Secret Window (2004)

Secret Window (2004) is a psychological thriller movie, starring Johnny Depp and John Turturro. It was written and directed by David Koepp, based on the novella Secret Window, Secret Garden by Stephen King.
I like Johny Depp since I saw "Edward the scissor hands". When I read about this movie in some blog, I wanted to watch this film because the movie is an adaptation of Stephen King's novel.  I have seen the other adaptations of Stephen King's novels like "The Shining", "Silver Bullet", "Shawshank Redemption", "The X Files", "1408", "The Mist" etc.  Like most of his work, this film is also of horror/mystery genre.  So I watched this movie yesterday and I really liked it.
Story: Johny Depp is a writer staying alone in a house in woods.  He is in the middle of divorce.  One day a strange man walks in and accuse Depp for plagiarism (stealing somebody's story) who then starts haunting him for "justice.".  Depp tries to prove that his story was the original but could not do it.  The stranger burns his house and kills couple of friends known to Depp and Depp soon fall into web of strange things.  Depp has also a mysterious past which haunts him once in a while.  Why the stranger is haunting him and what happens to Depp is nicely unfolded in the last 15 minutes with good horror touch.
The background score is good and Depp's acting is as usual--splendid.  I felt that the director (David Koepp) did not use the locale that much.  Depp's house is surrounded by a superb riverside and forest but not used in this movie.  Most of the scenes happens inside his house only.  Anyway, I guessed the suspense correctly half-way may be because I have seen couple of similar films (The Fight Club, The American Psycho).  But the way the story was adapted to the screen version is nice.

Ataque de Panico (Amazing Short film)

Again another short film.  There is a surprise story, success story pinned with this.  This short film is awesome and has got stunning visual effects.  This short film is about giant robots and mass flyingsaucer-like aircrafts invading and destroying Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. I could not believe this film was made on a budget of $300.  Is really those CGI are that cheap? Then why couldn't these indian directors spend hell lot of money but still gives some shitty graphics (for eg. Little John)?
Anyway, lets put them all behind and watch this movie.  Before that, as I mentioned in the beginning there was a surprise waiting for this producer (Mr. Fede Alvarez's) after he uploaded this movie.  He uploaded this film to YouTube on a Thursday and on Monday his inbox was totally full of e-mails from Hollywood studios.  He has been offered a $30m contract to make a Hollywood film.  The movie Mr Alvarez has been asked to produce is a sci-fi film to be shot in Uruguay and Argentina. He says he intends to start from scratch and develop a new story for the project.  By the quality of the short film, I think we can expect another "Avatar".  (should all sci-fi film destory some cities? no constructive screenplay can be made to a sci-fi background??)

Enjoy this video..

Funny Short Film

Everybody who live in flats will accept the fact that getting good neighbours is really a gift.  Atleast, that never happened to me.  In some houses, neighbours wont even talk to each other for years!!  I guess once in a while tolerance level is tested by the neighbours and we fight with them because we don't get along well with them since the beginning. Go ahead and watch this funny short film about two neighbours who make each other life miserable.  Enjoy!!

ccleaner - best crap cleaner

was taking backup of my PC today and thought I should share about "ccleaner".  Daily we browse lot of stuff from internet which creates temporary files.  These files are meant to be really "temporary" and need to be deleted automatically when you close the page that created those temp files.  Best example is youtube video.  When you watch a youtube video, it creates a temporary file in your temporary files location (type %TEMP% in Start>Run.. dialog to go to that location) which is actually the container for the video playing in browser..  Once you close the page that played the video, automatically the temporary file download for the video should get deleted.  Sometimes, these temp files are not automatically deleted and they grow day-by-day.
Ultimately, PC performance gets affected or in worst case, the total hard disk space is consumed and you get a warning about low disk space!  Until then, some people never care to delete these files manually.  However, in many occasions, I used to clear these files.  There are two reasons; (1) I don't want my backup of C: partition take more space.  That is eventually waste and takes more time during backup or restore.  (2) System performance is improved.
Enough of my story!! With this nifty tool "CCleaner", the job is lot easier.

CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) is a freeware system optimization tool. That removes unused and temporary files from your system – allowing Windows to run faster, more efficiently and giving you more hard disk space. The best part is that it’s fast! (normally taking less that a second to run) and Free.  It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware!
After installing you can change the settings in CCleaner to run it automatically during every startup.  You can download the latest version from here.

There are quite a few movies expected to release shortly.  Some of them have already created so much hype..  I am particularly looking forward to see "Avatar" by James Cameron and "Goa" by VenkatPrabhu.  Couple of tamil movies releasing this weekend.  Vijay's Vettaikaran and "Avatar" releasing on Friday and Nakul's "Kanthakottai" releasing on Saturday.  Vettaikaaran has already created waves(?) since SunTV is airing its trailer every few minutes.  Let's see who wins the race.

Interesting Banned Commercials

There are very good (?) commercials which were banned due to their mix of glamour or dangerous stunts.  Some of them are actually clever and interesting.  Though they were banned to show in television, youtube is having all of them I guess.  I happened to see some of such banned TV commercials and sharing couple of interesting ones below.

ZaZoo Condoms (very funny)

Burj Al Arab (Arab Tower) Dubai

Many of you might have heard about this star hotel in Dubai.  It is a deluxe hotel and I remember reading it is the only 7-start hotel in the world.  I guess 7-star is just to represents the luxury nothing more (many sites reports it is 5-star).  Looks like this is the world's tallest hotel and suites here cost up to $15000 a night (அடேங்கப்பா நம்ம நாட்டு பணத்துல எவ்வளவுங்கன்னே?).
Some details:
The Burj Al Arab is shaped like a billowing spinnaker sail.
The Burj Al Arab (means "The Arabian Tower" in Arabic) is built on a tiny man-made sea island, a mere football kick from the Dubai mainland. A short causeway links the hotel to the Dubai mainland.
The structure is firmly rooted. The foundation pillars reach 40 meters (120 feet) underneath the seabed.
The building is an all-suite hotel. There are 202 double-floor suites. Each is sumptuously decorated and equipped with
high-tech devices. The Burj Al Arab suite windows stretch floor to ceiling, offering grand sea and land views. Each suite
has its own private butler.
Double occupancy rates start at about $1,000 per
night for one bedroom suites. The two sprawling Royal Suites go for more than $5,000 a night.
Guests take a short submarine ride from the Burj Al Arab hotel lobby to
reach the hotel's undersea Al Manhara seafood restaurant.
Seated diners view teeming Gulf ocean life in a hangar size aquarium
tank through a long curving wall of sizable picture windows.
A helipad dramatically juts out from one of the upper Burj Al Arab's floors. Helicopters ferry guests to and from Dubai's
modern international airport. "Budget-minded" guests take the hotel's Silver Cloud Rolls Royce limousines.
